NIO starts Cedar 1.6.0 rollout; hardware retrofits are separate
ET9, ES9 and the new ES8 receive software updates; hardware retrofits require separate orders.

Key points
- Xchuxing reported on November 3 that NIO began rolling out Cedar 1.6.0 to ET9, ES9 and the new ES8 that day, with over 60 additions and experience improvements. Starting a rollout does not mean every car has installed it, nor that every vehicle receives the combined feature list of all three models.
- Reported areas include Skyline, rear-screen interaction, panoramic cinema audio, tuning and fine volume adjustment, charging-station map layers, height-limit assistance, on-device-model guardian mode, temporary key-sensing disablement, kick-operated front/rear luggage compartments and directional cooling. Separately, diamond tweeters, a driver zero-gravity seat and cabin floor heating are hardware retrofits ordered through the NIO app store; a software download does not add that equipment.
- Editorial analysis: owners should check their own update notes against model, existing hardware and eligibility. A news feature list does not replace vehicle or order documentation. Retrofit prices, compatibility and installation arrangements require separate checks. We have not tested these functions and do not infer quantified safety gains from their names.
