Key points

  • Seres sold 27,037 vehicles in October, down 50.29% year on year.
  • New-energy sales were 24,921, down 51.57%, of a 281,442 year-to-date total.
  • October production of 26,706 was lower than October sales.
  • HIMA separately reported 33,537 deliveries; the two scopes are not interchangeable.

Reported details

Seres filed October production and sales figures on 1 November. The company sold 27,037 vehicles, 50.29% fewer than a year earlier, and 24,921 of those were new-energy vehicles, down 51.57%. October production was 26,706 vehicles, a 52.34% decline, so the company produced fewer vehicles than it sold in the month.

The filing puts year-to-date sales at 310,198 vehicles, down 21.48%, with new-energy vehicles at 281,442, down 20.96%. Year-to-date production reached 307,223 vehicles, down 23.48%. The gap between production and sales is visible across the ten months as well, and the company did not explain it in the announcement.

A separate disclosure the same day is easy to confuse with this one. HIMA reported 33,537 deliveries for October, down 50.84%, with an average transaction price above 400,000 yuan. HIMA is a grouping of several brands built with Huawei, and Seres' new-energy volume is one part of that picture rather than a second count of the same cars.

Editorial interpretation

Read together, the two announcements describe a sharp retreat from last year's base without agreeing on size. Our interpretation is that the useful question is not which number is correct, but what each one covers: a listed manufacturer's own production and sales, a brand group's deliveries, and a single model line are three different measurements that this month happen to move in the same direction.

For readers tracking AITO, the filing is a reminder to check scope before comparing. A company total includes models outside the brand a reader has in mind, and deliveries to dealers are not the same as registrations by customers. We are not attributing the decline to a model cycle, a price change or a policy effect, because the announcement gives none of those reasons.

What it means

Seres' October production and sales filing as reported by IT Home, with HIMA's separate delivery disclosure for the same month. Scopes differ; no company explained the decline, and the AITO photograph is a brand reference rather than a scene from the period reported.
