Great Wall Motor has launched the 2027 TANK 500 in China with four trims. Hi4-T costs RMB 335,000, Hi4-T Smart RMB 355,000, the 3.0T petrol model RMB 355,000 and Hi4-Z Smart RMB 375,000. The range therefore combines two plug-in-hybrid routes with a conventional powertrain; treating all four as new-energy vehicles would be inaccurate.
The Hi4-T pairs a 2.0-litre turbo engine, one electric motor and a 9-speed hybrid transmission for a quoted 310 kW system output. Its 37.1 kWh battery is rated at 110 km WLTC. Hi4-Z adds a second motor and a three-speed DHT, raising quoted system output to 635 kW; its 59.05 kWh pack is rated at 201 km WLTC. TANK positions Hi4-T for harder off-road use and Hi4-Z as the broader, higher-performance option. Those cycle figures are comparable certification values, not independent real-world range tests.
All versions share the body fundamentals: 5,078 mm long, 1,934 mm wide and 1,905 mm tall, with a 2,850 mm wheelbase. The published approach and departure angles are 29 and 24 degrees, and minimum ground clearance is 210 mm. The 3.0T model combines a V6 with a 48-volt system and a nine-speed automatic; its continued presence matters for buyers who value long-distance refuelling convenience or a familiar mechanical layout more than electric-only commuting.
The model-year update adds Danxia Red paint, a black-and-grey cabin option, two 15.6-inch screens, a 22-speaker audio system and available Nappa seats with heating, ventilation and massage. Smart trims are advertised with 27 sensing components, including lidar and a forward 4D radar, plus Coffee Pilot 4 assisted driving. These are manufacturer-listed functions and hardware, not proof that the vehicle can drive without supervision; availability can also differ by trim and software version.
