Key points

  • Leapmotor reported 106,127 vehicles in October, up 50.99% year on year.
  • XPENG posted a record month at 50,237 vehicles, up 19.57% year on year.
  • NIO Group reported 34,246: 18,125 under the NIO brand and 7,738 Firefly vehicles.
  • HIMA fell 50.84% to 33,537; Li Auto reported 29,025, down 8.63%.
  • Scopes differ: SGMW's 142,757 includes exports and combustion models, so this is not one NEV ranking.

Reported details

Chinese manufacturers published October figures on 1 November. Leapmotor reported 106,127 vehicles, XPENG reported 50,237 for a record month and Xiaomi said it delivered more than 50,000. NIO Group reported 34,246 vehicles, HIMA 33,537 and Li Auto 29,025. Every figure here comes from the company that announced it; none is an audited market total.

NIO Group split its 34,246 between 18,125 NIO-brand vehicles, 8,383 under ONVO and 7,738 Firefly. The company reports 334,547 vehicles for January to October and 1,332,139 cumulative deliveries. Li Auto gave 29,025, including more than 3,000 of the new MEGA. HIMA reported 33,537 at an average transaction price above 400,000 yuan and 1.6 million cumulative deliveries.

Other announcements cannot be lined up on the same scale. SGMW's 142,757 includes 38,911 exports and combustion models, while MG's 85,000 refers to global NEV sales. Changan Nevo reported 63,648, the GAC Aion and Hyper unit 42,357, and GAC Toyota 53,022 including petrol vehicles. Zeekr reported 32,483 and Deepal 32,602.

Some entries remain provisional or partial. Yijing reported 3,612 vehicles from two weeks of deliveries and Volkswagen Anhui 1,597. Leapmotor cites more than 1.9 million cumulative deliveries since launch, and Zeekr 320,887 for January to October, up 94.4%. These disclosures do not add up to a verified national figure for the month.

Editorial interpretation

Our reading is that the notable change is at the top of the table rather than in any single record. Growth this month came mainly from brands positioned on aggressive pricing, while several premium groupings lost ground year on year. That describes reported unit volumes; it does not by itself show a shift in demand or in profitability.

Whether that split holds is the question for November and December. The useful comparison is month over month with a constant scope, keeping price campaigns, model changes and export share separate from domestic retail demand. We are not attributing the declines to a cause that no company disclosed, and we are not forecasting the fourth quarter.
