BYD reported 490,168 vehicles for October, SAIC 430,018, Geely 310,183 and Chery 282,458. The ordering mixes wholesale and delivery figures, so it is indicative rather than an audited ranking.

Reported details

China's October sales table is now complete enough to order. BYD reported 490,168 vehicles, up 10.97% year on year and 5.74% month on month. SAIC Group followed at 430,018, down 5.28%, then Geely Holding at 310,183, up 0.99%, and Chery Group at 282,458, up 7.21%. Geely's lead over Chery was about 27,700 vehicles.

BYD's group figure hides four very different sub-brands. Dynasty and Ocean models accounted for 423,843 vehicles, up 7.3%, while Fangchengbao reported 43,872, up 41.29%, and Denza 15,152, up 49.5% year on year but down 16.74% on September. Yangwang reported 258 vehicles, down 60.55%. The company also reports roughly 170,000 overseas passenger-car and pickup sales for the month.

Geely and Chery each carry a struggling brand next to a growing one. Geely's Galaxy line reached 153,385 vehicles, up 20.32%, and Zeekr 32,483, up 51.63%, while Lynk reported 21,958, down 45.4%. At Chery, the main brand rose 18.19% to 200,571, but Luxeed fell 52.46% to 6,090 and Exeed 40.63% to 5,637, with Jetour at 58,443.

GWM reported 120,374 vehicles, down 15.87%, including 49,499 new-energy vehicles and 62,862 sold overseas. Its brands moved in opposite directions too: ORA more than doubled to 12,187, up 115.78%, while Tank fell 31.01% to 15,389, Haval 19.5% to 71,027 and WEY 31.9% to 8,648.

Editorial interpretation

Our reading is that the brand splits are more informative than the ordering. Every large group in this table is now a portfolio whose growth and decline cancel out inside one number, which is why two companies with similar totals can be in very different health. The order of positions two to four also sits inside a 15% band, so it is sensitive to how each group counts.

That counting is exactly what the underlying table warns about. Wholesale volumes and customer deliveries are added together, and a company that only says it delivered more than 50,000 is entered as 50,000. Read the table as a set of company announcements in one place, not as a measured market ranking, and treat any single month's ordering as provisional.

What it means

Company announcements collected by IT Home on 1 November 2026, including BYD's own filing. Wholesale and delivery figures are mixed in the source table and a rounded Xiaomi figure is used for ordering, which the source itself flags. The BYD photograph is a brand reference, not a scene from the period reported.
